2010 Chevy CamaroThe Hare Chevy Camaro was awarded World Car Design of the Year by a design panel consisting of five highly respected world design experts.

The award was presented to Chevrolet today at the 2010 New York International Auto Show. “In recreating this modern sports car, we have proven that people are just as passionate about Chevy as ever,” said Tom Peters, Chevrolet Design Director, Global RWD, Performance Cars and Full-size Trucks. “We have been delighted about the strong reaction to the Camaro. Even in markets that are new to Chevy, it has been creating an emotional appeal for the brand.”

Hare Chevrolet, the sales leader for new Chevrolets in Indianapolis, has seen the same results from Indianapolis area car buyers. “We have had tremendous response to the 2010 Camaro in the Indianapolis area,” stated Courtney Cole, VP of Hare Chevrolet “the response has been so good that we are actually number one in the Midwest when it comes to Camaro sales and Camaros in stock.”

Either due to an emotional appeal to older models of the Camaro, or the younger generation of Indiana car enthusiasts enjoying the award winning styling, Chevy has a proven winner on its hands.

More than 80,000 2010 Chevy Camaros have been sold since the car’s launch in early spring 2009. Camaro outsold its closest competitor for the last ten months and retained the top position in the regular sports car segment in each of those months.

Did you love remote control cars when you were a kid? Do you wish you could have a remote control car like on Mythbusters? With the 2011 Chevy Volt Chevrolet is bringing you closer to that reality.

Wouldn’t you love to heat or cool your vehicle from inside the comforts of your house, restaurant or store? Are you absent minded about locking your vehicle? You can do that from the Volt app as well. Raining outside? Unlock your car doors before you ever get within key fob range. Worried about how much charge your car has? You can check that from your phone now too. If you are having a soft drink with your friends and realize the car needs to charge a couple more minutes, stick around and have another. What would our founders think of all this technology?

Chevy recently let a few socially connected types test drive the Volt. The video below is from Jason Falls experience at South by Southwest test driving the Volt.

SME-TV: Robert Scoble, Guy Kawasaki & Jason Falls test drive the Chevy Volt from Jason Falls on Vimeo.

Jason is a “social media educator, a social media strategist and a public relations professional” according to his blog, Social Media Explorer. Why would GM and Chevrolet in particular want Jason Falls, Robert Scoble and Guy Kawaski test driving the Volt? For one they are very influential in the tech and social communications world. They have smart phones like the iPhone, Android and Blackberry. Do you know who else has these devices? Their readers and followers!

Not only has GM and Chevy started connecting and engaging socially they have also tied that new commitment into their vehicles. They announced new initiatives at the annual South by Southwest interactive conference in Austin. While we are still waiting to hear if these initiatives are implemented its a step in the right direction. GM and Chevy understand social communications and engagement. We like to think Hare Chevrolet is starting down the right track when it comes to social communications.

Now if Chevy could create an app that would make the 2011 Chevrolet Volt fly from Indiana’s new Chevrolet sales leader to your job then they would really be on to something.

2010 Aqua Blue Metallic CamaroHere is a great story from Ty Lowery a member of the sales staff at Hare Chevrolet who specializes in online car sales. Ty has sold new cars online all over the United States” and used cars online all over the world.

“About a week ago, I received a call from a guy who said he was very interested in a vehicle that he saw online. He introduced himself as Jack King and that he was from West Newton, Pennsylvania. After asking which vehicle he was inquiring about, he said that it was the Aqua Blue Metallic Camaro 1SS. He said that he already had a 1968 Camaro that he adored and he wanted to add to his collection. He asked me about the car and I went over the features and specs on the car. I also told him how the color was no longer in production. Jack stated that he wanted the car if we could work out the details. He told me that he wanted to trade in his car. He had a 1989 Red Chevrolet Corvette with 60k miles. After working out the details, he said that he had a friend that could bring his Corvette here and pick up the Camaro. On Tuesday afternoon, Blair Kinneer came in to the dealership to pick it up. He said that it was a seven hour drive and that except for the rain, it was a smooth trip.” 1968 Camaro

While some people are leery about purchasing a car online, as long as you do your homework and deal with a reputable car dealer you have nothing to worry about. Whether you are in the market for a new Chevy in Indiana or Pennsylvania we can help you out just like Ty did for Jack King. “People Drive from Everywhere to Buy at Hare” isn’t just a tag line its a reality!

Hare Chevrolet is pleased to announce our newest salesman, Paul Poteet. Many of you know Paul as Indiana’s Weatherman or as a member of The Smiley Show on WZPL 99.5. Smaller Indiana members may be more familiar with Paul through his starring and eating roles on Paul Poteet’s Gotta Eat. Here is a quote from Paul.

“I am thrilled to welcome Hare Chevy as the first sponsor of Paul Poteet’s Indiana Weekend & Paul Poteet’s Indiana Weather Almanac. I’m fortunate to have a large and loyal base of friends and fans who seek me out online and on-demand for entertainment and information. I appreciate their support, and I intend to keep generating interesting content. I want to be where my audience is: on their screens, over their speakers, even on a stage in front of them!”

“I am proud to now to be able to work directly with local businesses to keep that content coming. Plus-I enjoy sharing information about who I do business with…places I trust. We’ve had a lot of success sharing great restaurants in the “Paul Poteet’s Gotta Eat” video series, and there’s much more to come. I’ve got a lot of miles to cover this Spring & Summer. I’m so glad Hare Chevy is along for the ride!”

March is officially called Chevy Truck Month because 2010 Chevy Silverados and 2010 Chevy Avalanches are being offered at 0% for 60 months. When you compare a $30,000 truck at 0% vs 6.5% for 60 months, that is over $5,000 in finance savings.

Hare Chevrolet, the largest Chevrolet Dealer in the Indianapolis Area is also offering 2010 Chevy Malibus at $199 per month and 2010 Chevy Traverse and 2010 Chevy Equinox at $299 per month. The 2010 Chevy Equinox and 2010 Chevy Traverse were both recently named Top 10 Family Cars by Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com). The 2010 Chevy Silverado, Chevy Malibu, Traverse and Equinox were all named as Consumer Digest Best Buys.

Owner Courtney Cole said, “We are very fortunate that the Chevy lineup is so powerful and offers some outstanding payment options. When you add the 100,000 mile warranty that goes with these vehicles, the consumer can be confident that they have a great vehicle with outstanding quality.”

2010 Chevy Equinox Indianapolis Chevrolet crossovers, including Equinox, Traverse, and HHR, had combined U.S. sales in February of 18,601, up 50 percent from the same month last year. The growth was lead by a 133 percent increase in sales for Equinox, a compact crossover redesigned for the 2010 model year.

Hare Chevrolet, an Indianapolis Area Chevy Dealer located in Noblesville is the leading seller of Chevrolet in Indianapolis. Owner Courtney Cole commented, “The Chevrolet Equinox is one of the best vehicles we have ever carried. The gas mileage is fantastic, the design is great, and people love the price.” Hare Chevrolet sold more Chevy Equinox than all other Indiana Chevrolet Dealers in the Month of February. This allows anyone looking for an Equinox in Indianapolis the ability to stop by Hare and have 20 Equinox in stock to choose from.

“Consumers have made Equinox a resounding success,” says Jim Campbell, Chevrolet General Manager.

Indianapolis Chevrolet buyers clearly agree with industry experts, who have recognized the Chevrolet Equinox as one of the best compact crossovers on the market.

The Equinox is one of three Chevrolets included on the 2010 Top 10 Family Cars by Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com. Kelley Blue Book editors said of the Equinox:

“In the highly populated crossover category, the Chevy Equinox stands out from the crowd as a vehicle that competently embodies function and form. In addition to an upscale interior and bold exterior styling, the Equinox is also able to achieve a class-leading 32 mpg on the highway (in four-cylinder form).”

The 2010 Equinox is also named the Best Small Utility by MotorWeek. MotorWeek editors called the Equinox, “One of the brightest lights of the ‘new’ GM… the Equinox raises the bar on compact people-movers across the board.”

Getting a good value when trading in a used car or truck isn’t as mysterious as you might think. When you go to make the trade at the Indianapolis Chevy dealership, the car appraiser judges the trade-in vehicle in the same way Indianapolis Chevy shoppers judge potential purchases.

For example, the age, body style, and trim type are all factors that affect the value of your trade. Is the car a popular Chevy model? Is it a sports car? More pricey vehicles naturally bring more attention, but a practical Indianapolis Chevy in excellent condition is worth more to the average buyer than a battered BMW—the condition of the vehicle is crucial.

Don’t forget about the first impression factor either. Your Indianapolis Chevy dealer or appraiser will react the same as you—it’s easy to get a good first impression from a clean, sparkling vehicle. If you’re considering a trade, clean out your car and give it a good wash. You may be able to have minor cosmetic problems repaired inexpensively; it’s a good idea to replace broken interior or signal lights, cracked fixtures, etc. Make your used car trade-in as attractive as possible to get a better deal on your trade-in.

As you may have already heard GM announced a voluntary recall on certain Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models. The official announcement sent to dealerships is below.

General Motors communicated to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) yesterday that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall of 1.3 million compact cars to repair a motor in the power steering system. Vehicles affected are the 2005 – 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt; 2007 – 2010 Pontiac G5; 2005 – 2006 Pontiac Pursuit sold in Canada, and the 2005 – 2006 Pontiac G4 sold in Mexico.

Effective immediately, stop the delivery of all new and used models listed above that may be in dealership new or used vehicle inventory. These vehicles must be held and not delivered to customers or dealer traded until further notice.

The recall was voluntary and initiated by GM. The main purpose of the recall was to ease customers fears after the recent Toyota recalls. The issue is a minor one and has caused no deaths or major accidents. The below memo details the recall further.

Dear GM Dealer:

We want to clarify and expand on a few items surrounding the voluntary safety recall of the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G4, G5, and Pursuit models that was announced late Monday. First and foremost, owners and customers need to understand that even if power steering assist cuts out suddenly, these vehicles can be steered manually. The steering effort required could be greater below 15 miles per hour, but steering control is always possible. This condition typically presents itself in the 20,000-30,000 mile range.

We are conducting this recall out of concern for the customer’s peace of mind. While we have the same Electric Power Steering (EPS) system in the Chevrolet HHR and Saturn ION, these vehicles are not included in the recall because every vehicle has unique tuning, tires and chassis, which causes some vehicles to be more susceptible to this condition than others.

We are working with the steering system supplier on repair scenarios, which could include steering motor repair or replacement, or one of several possible remanufacturing strategies. We will share more, including when customers can expect notification, as soon as we have all the details worked out.

Anyone in need of car repairs in the Indianapolis area can contact the Hare service department at 888-826-7508. Even though Hare is the #1 Chevy dealer in Indianapolis we can service all makes. We can even perform warranty work on any make of vehicle also. Stay tuned to this blog our our Facebook and Twitter accounts for more information as it becomes available.

“SHOOT A RABBIT”

South by Southwest Chevrolet Test Drive Contest

Have you shot a rabbit before?

We  are assuming nearly everyone answered no. Hare Chevrolet is aiming to change that by bringing you the  “Shoot a Rabbit” South by Southwest (SXSW) Test  Drive Contest. Before you read on please put your guns away. This  contest will be decided by shooting of a different kind; you must  capture rabbits with your camera.

Not only do you need to capture  rabbits with your camera (or camera phone) you must capture Hare  Chevrolet rabbits. Every time you post a picture or quick video of the  Hare name or logo (license plate, car decal, dealership sign, shirt,  cup) to the Facebook Fan Page, http://www.facebook.com/harechevrolet,  you gain one entry into the contest.

Lets say Twitter is your network of choice and you happen  to spot the Hare Chevrolet name or logo while driving around. Send a pic  to @harechevy, add the hashtag #haresxsw and  you get another entry. What if I use Facebook & Twitter you ask.  Multiple entries are allowed for the same pic on both networks.

By  this point you are probably asking a couple questions. This sounds  like a fun contest but what do we win? More on that later. What  is South by Southwest? More info on “The South” can be found at  their main site, http://www.sxsw.com What do rabbit  pictures have to do with South by Southwest? Technology is  constantly changing our lives everyday. Alot of this technology, such as  camera phones & social networks, was introduced at or was shaped by  people who attend the annual South by Southwest Interactive Festival.  We want our customers, fans or online contacts to use their technology  in entering this contest.

South by Southwest is the once a year  destination event of the social media generation. Chevrolet wanted to  take the idea of the classic American road trip and re-imagine it for  the current generation, hence the Chevy SXSW Road Trip Challenge was born. Teams from  across the nation will be given various challenges along their journey,  in Chevy cars, to Austin for SXSW. Hare Chevrolet has been chosen as a  stop for Team Lansing who is being captained by Betsy Weber. You can  follow along with Team Lansing while they are on their trip by going to  their Tumblr page, http://www.teamlansingsxsw.tumblr.com

While  in town Betsy and her team will be using GM On Star technology to navigate  around Noblesville. Once the team reaches their destination they will  draw a name of one of the “Shoot a Rabbit” entrants out of a top hat  (gotta keep the bunny theme going) The winner will be drawn late morning on March 9th during a live webcast. You can find the webcast by following this link next Tuesday, Hare SXSW Test Drive Contest. The winning entrant will receive a  test drive of either a Chevrolet  Camaro or Chevrolet  Equinox While you are test driving a beautiful new  Chevy we will scrub your current car to get all the dirt and grime from  the winter off of your ride. You never know we may offer more prizes so  stay tuned.

Multiple entries are allowed so show us your love  for your technology and Hare Chevrolet.

Employees and their  immediate family are welcome to participate but aren’t eligible to win  prizes. You need to be 25 years old or older and have a valid drivers  license to be eligible. The test drive will be for 2 days and cant  exceed 200 miles. Hare Chevrolet has discretion on which exact model can  be selected.

South By Southwest

Once you start the search for a new or used Chevy, one area to give special attention to is the gas mileage of your existing vehicle compared to the Indianapolis Chevy you’re considering. Whether your travels frequently take you out of the Indianapolis area or you’re strictly a city driver, that gas mileage issue becomes a big part of preserving your bottom line. How much can you save over a year? Do some quick math to find out—how many miles do you drive per month? Multiply that number by the average gas price. Divide that number by the number of miles per gallon your current car gets and that’s how much you spend each month on gas.

Do the same math for your favorite Indianapolis Chevy car and compare the amounts. Will you save money with the new model? If not, keep looking at the dealership until you can find one that at least matches the MPG you currently get. Don’t forget that if you’re financing your new car, you’ll be required to carry full insurance on the vehicle—any savings you can get from better gas mileage, bigger down payments, and good trade-in value will help you in the long run. Your Chevy dealer in Indianapolis can show you a selection of models that get that mileage or better.
