Hare Chevrolet Gives Alternative Fuel Options

Over the past few years, more people are interested in alternative fuel cars.  Alternative fuel-powered vehicles have been slow to enter the market place, so I’ve put together this brief list of the different types that are available now, and what is being researched. Hybrid (electric) and ethanol are the two most popular types of alternative fuel used in the past few years.  Ethanol is made from sugar cane or corn, and some vehicles sold today can run on a gasoline/ethanol mixture.  One of the big drawbacks to using ethanol is that it is not as fuel efficient as gasoline and can cost more per gallon. Hybrid cars and trucks use both electricity and gasoline to reduce their environmental impact, and are currently available at your Indiana Chevrolet dealerships.  In 2010 Hare will bring to Indianapolis the Chevy Volt.  The Volt is an electric car that can create its own electricity.  It can run on a pure electric charge for up to 40 miles — gas and emissions free. After that, Volt uses a range-extending gas generator that produces enough energy to power it for hundreds of miles on a single tank of gas. Another type of alternative fuel being researched is hydrogen.  Most of the research being done is how hydrogen fuel cells could power a car or truck.  A car running on hydrogen alone would produce no emissions, just water vapor. Most Indianapolis residents are trying to do their part to reduce their impact on the environment, and Hare Chevrolet is no exception.  We look forward to bringing you more information about alternative fuels as it comes available, and always carrying the latest auto technology at our Indianapolis Chevy dealership.

Hare Chevrolet Gives Test Drive Tips

Going on a test drive when you’re buying a new or used Chevy is one of the most important steps in the buying process.  It helps you to determine whether or not the vehicle that you are interested is an appropriate fit for your driving style and needs.  I've put together a list of things you should do while test driving your next Chevy. You’ll be better to determine which car or truck is right for you when you know what you need before you even set foot on any Indiana Chevy dealership lot.  For example, if have a long commute, good gas mileage is probably something you’re looking for.  If you have kids, a backseat big enough for child seats may be important. Make sure you are comfortable in the Chevy.  You should be able to get in and out of the vehicle easily, the seatbelt should fit well, you need to have plenty of leg and head room, and it’s important that you can reach the controls easily. While on your test drive, drive the Chevy just like you would if you owned it.  If you drive on the highway a lot, ask if you can drive it somewhere at highway speeds.  If you live somewhere with a lot of hills or curvy roads, make sure it handles well on similar roads. Our Indianapolis Chevy dealership staff goes on test drives to help our dealer customers make sure they find the right Chevrolet for you and your family.  Contact our sales staff at 888-827-0711 or on the Hare Chevrolet website.

Car Seat Answers From Hare Chevrolet

A lot of our Indiana Chevy dealership customers have young children, whom they chauffeur around town on a daily basis.  Since this is so common for our customers, I thought I’d pull together a few resources to help clarify which types of car seats and for what different children’s ages our customers should be using. Infants should be sitting in a rear-facing infant seat until their 1st birthday and they weigh at least 20 pounds.  Toddlers should move into a rear-facing child seat until they outgrow the height and weight requirements, and then should move into a forward-facing car seat with a full harness until they become too big to fit. Once your child outgrows their car seat, they should be placed in a booster seat until they fit properly into a regular seat belt, which typically happens somewhere between the ages of 8 and 12.  Children under the age of 13 should remain seated in the back seat of your Chevrolet even after they grow too big for a booster seat. Child safety is extremely important to Hare Auto, so if you have any questions about how to properly use or set up child safety seats, contact our Indianapolis Chevy dealership.  You can also visit our Chevrolet website, or call us at 888-827-0711.
